Ways To Make The Most Of Your Stretches.
Have you ever been going on throughout your daily activities and felt a muscle stretch in a certain position? For example, trying to tie your shoes and your hamstrings are a little tight. This is a common problem with people that are active on a daily basis.
A lot of people think the best thing to do for tight muscles is to stretch more. While this is true, there are other ways you can make the most of your stretches and really loosen up your muscles. Working on your flexibility and mobility will be the best way you can help your tight muscles.
Flexibility is the way you can be moved, while mobility is the way you can move yourself. Traditional stretching takes care of your flexibility as you try and relax and lengthen the muscles. During the stretch you muscles will feel great, but afterwards they will just tighten up again. A great way to change this is by adding mobility work to our stretching routine. Mobility work can help you keep a better range of motion throughout your muscles.
There are a ton of mobility stretches that you can do depending on your situation and what muscles are tight. Speak to your kinesiologist to figure out which ones might be right for you. The following are a few of our favourites:
- Kneeling lunge
- Walking hip openers
- Windmills on the floor
- Neck half circles
- Leg swings
If you would like more information on mobility and find out how you can incorporate it into your routine contact us! Our kinesiologists can assess your tight muscles and let you know which mobility stretches can help you.
